Tips for success
There are a variety of factors that may affect student progress.
- Attitude and actions
You have taken a major step in deciding to be with us to improve your future. At times, you may feel frustrated because of external or course requirements. You may feel you cannot have an assignment prepared in time, or cannot be ready for an upcoming evaluation. This may cause you to think about missing a test or dropping a course. When this happens, it is important to communicate your concerns early with your teacher, or with one of the counsellors or administrator. If you wait until a deadline or test day, it may be too late for us to help you get through the difficult time. Together we can work towards a resolution of your difficulties better than you trying to do so alone. - Regular attendance
There is no substitute for being present for the teacher’s presentation, class discussion and the further understanding that comes from other students’questions. Check your schedule carefully for the months of the course and don’t book any appointments during school time. - Punctuality
We appreciate that in adult life, from time to time, situations can occur that cause us to be late. However, a pattern of lateness must be avoided. If you arrive late to class, please treat the teacher and the rest of the class with respect by not disturbing or interrupting them. - Class materials
Make sure you have the appropriate text books, notebooks, instruments and anything else required for your class.
